Happy Mother’s Day!

Mothers are special human beings. They sacrifice a lot, love more than anyone else, and can fix anything with a kiss, a hug and a freshly baked cookie.

This is the first Mother’s Day since we relocated to the Bay Area, away from my hometown where my mom was always a few minutes away. Even though I’m a grown woman and have my own life, there are days when you just need your mom. Isn’t that amazing? That you and her have created this unspoken, life-long, never-ending bond? To me it is one of the most magical feelings that starts from the get-go and never truly ends.

So this Mother’s Day I just want to recognize all you amazing mamas out there: working moms, stay-at-home moms, single moms, moms who think they are doing it all wrong, moms who feel they were born to do it, and everyone in between. Feel the love today from your children and family as they take time to thank you for everything you do. Whether you get pancakes in bed, an hour to yourself, a solo bath sans little hands banging on the bathroom door, or just lots of hugs from your little ones, do whatever it is that makes you happy, because you deserve it. Being a mom is one of the most difficult jobs on the planet.

And to my own mama, I love you. There are days when I hear your words come out of my mouth, or look down at my hands and see yours in front of me. I am an emotional sap because of you, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone. All of these gorgeous images are actually free downloads that you can print out to make your Mother’s Day just a bit more special.

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
